Renaissance faires in Nevada
Nevada's flagship renaissance event, the Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival in Las Vegas, traces back to 1992, when it began as a small pirate gathering in Lorenzi Park; it has since grown roughly 600 percent, with its 31st edition drawing more than 60,000 visitors, over 100 artisan vendors, and participating guilds such as the Pirates of Rogues Cove and Clan Darksail to Sunset Park. Clark County's own announcements describe the festival as spanning more than 30 acres of the park, with interactive historical guild encampments alongside full-contact jousting and multiple performance stages. A striking feature of Nevada's scene is how many of its faires are run by civic and charitable groups rather than commercial promoters. In the rural northeast, the Rotary Club of Elko organizes the Robin Hood Renaissance Faire at Lamoille Grove Park expressly to fund local community initiatives and youth projects such as scholarships and a youth leadership camp, while in White Pine County the Ely Lions Club, in partnership with White Pine County Tourism and Recreation, hosts a Renaissance Faire & Pumpkin Festival that is the club's biggest event of the year and was moved to Broadbent Park after crowds outgrew its earlier venue. Las Vegas' Pirate Fest, billed in 2022 as the "largest Pirate and Fantasy Renaissance Festival in Nevada," directs its proceeds to the Paradise Ranch Foundation, a nonprofit providing mental-health services including horse-assisted therapy for children with autism and veterans. The state's Celtic wing is anchored by the Las Vegas Celtic Society, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) whose annual Celtic Festival and Highland Games draws more than 4,000 attendees, over 115 heavy-athletics competitors, and members of more than 10 bagpipe and drum bands.
