Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Ren Faire Directory ("we," "us," or "our") operates renfairedirectory.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
When you submit an event or contact us, we collect the information you voluntarily provide — such as event details, your name, and email address. We use this only to process your submission or respond to your inquiry.
Automatically collected information
Like most websites, we automatically receive standard server log information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. We use this data for site operation, security, and aggregate analytics. Our host and CDN (Railway and Cloudflare) process this information as part of serving the site.
Searches you run on this site
When you use the search box, we record what was searched for — the keyword, the town or ZIP code, the distance, and the category — together with how many faires were found. We do this mainly to see which places people look for and come up empty, so we know which faires to go and add. These records contain no IP address, no browser details, and nothing that links a search to you or to any other search.
Cookies and Advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies to improve site functionality. Specifically:
- Advertising — We do not currently display advertising on this site, and no advertising cookies are set. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any ads appear.
- Google Analytics — We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are located, and how they arrived. Google sets cookies to do this and processes the data on our behalf; we do not use it to identify individuals, and we do not run Google Signals or advertising personalisation from it. You can opt out across all sites with Google's opt-out browser add-on, and Google explains its handling at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Preferences — We store your search preferences (location, radius, view mode) in your browser's local storage so you don't have to re-enter them each visit. This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some site functionality.
How We Use Your Information
- To display and maintain the ren faire directory
- To process event submissions
- To respond to reports and inquiries
- To improve the site through aggregate usage analytics
- To find faires we are missing, using the searches that returned no results
Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties except:
- Analytics — Google Analytics receives the browsing data described above in order to produce aggregate reports for us
- Legal compliance — if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users
Event Listings
Event information displayed on this site is aggregated from public sources or submitted by users. If you are an event organizer and wish to update or remove your event listing, please contact us.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents may request to know what personal information we have collected, request deletion, or opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
