The Renaissance Faire at Sleepy Hollow

Set among the hills and trees of Sleepy Hollow in Des Moines, this event bills itself as Iowa's largest Renaissance Faire and runs both a Spring Fling and a Fall Faire. Professional entertainers from around the country appear, including magicians, acrobats and knights on horseback, and more than 80 artists, crafters and vendors sell hand-crafted art, clothing, jewelry, swords and armor. Food and drink include loaded baked potatoes, bubble waffles, buttered beer, vegetarian options and Iowa meads and wines; a separately ticketed evening event called The Cannon Ball is also held. Children 12 and under enter free.
