Georgia Mountain Scottish Festival

A Scottish heritage gathering and Highland games held at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee, in the mountains of north Georgia, continuing an event that was previously held for two decades in Blairsville. Visitors find Highland dancing, heavy athletics, pipe and drum competitions, massed bands and a parade of tartans, clan and society tents, traditional musicians, a c\u00e8ilidh and Scotch whisky tasting. Demonstrations include sheep dogs working lakeside, falconry and birds of prey, blacksmithing and weaponry, while vendors sell kilts, sporrans, jewelry and Scottish food such as haggis and Scotch eggs. Children's activities, shaded grounds, shuttles and a grounds train are provided.
