Let's Vike It

Let's Vike It is a free, family-friendly festival in Newport City Park focused on Norse history and the Viking Age, organized by Aasveig, a nonprofit educational organization. Its centerpiece is the fregna tjald, an open-air learning tent museum holding authentic artifacts and educational canvases arranged to feel like a longhouse. Visitors find a Viking village, combat reenactments and historical fighting, live blacksmithing, copper bending, shield making, safe axe throwing, lawn games and historical presentations, plus vendors and food. Children's activities include a shield-making class for those under 14. The park is wheelchair accessible and leashed pets are welcome.
