Kern County Scottish Games and Gathering​

The Kern County Highland Games and Celtic Gathering is an annual event staged in Bakersfield by the Kern County Scottish Society, a volunteer-run non-profit founded in 1971 to promote and preserve Scottish heritage, language and cultural traditions. Traditional heavy athletics form the core of the day, including the caber toss, hammer throw, shot put, weight for height and tug o'war, with the society's athletic competition registration handled through the Scottish American Athletic Association. Food, music and merchandise vendors round out the gathering, and clan conveners and vendors are invited to take part.
