Hoggetowne Medieval Faire

Produced by the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire runs across five days over two weekends at Gainesville Raceway, where the grounds become a medieval marketplace. Visitors find jousting, stage combat, a living chess match tied to the faire's theme, olde world dancers and singers, jugglers, jesters, magicians, belly dancers and musicians on period instruments across multiple stages. More than 80 artisans sell and demonstrate blacksmithing, jewelry, hand-blown glass, stone and wood carving, weaving, leather crafts and period clothing, while a food court offers bread bowls, turkey legs and sweets, with two ale houses on site.
